Instrumentalisation of IBEX35

Big businessmen bow to President Sánchez's propaganda, until he punishes them.

Propaganda uses the ignorance of whoever receives its message. Only in countries with many ignorant people or in dictatorships with populations trapped for fear do totalitarian politicians survive. Well-educated and well-informed people are protected from propaganda. For decades, it has been hard for the Spanish to be well-informed because education worsens and very little is read. A false message that is constantly repeated on TV seems true to those with little critical sense. As thinking is hard work, people prefer screens to entertain them. This is also why human imitate those like us: to not have to think. Too many Spaniards prefer being deceived by sweet lies rather than know the truth.

Propaganda encloses the totalitarian will by seeking unconditional submission by whoever receives the message for the transmitter’s cause. The scenery psychologically plays an important role. The deceiving message of propaganda can tell lies about what is to be done or hide true intentions. This government, and the former Zapatero one, live off propaganda subject to deteriorating public education, subsidise the leftish culture and finance for certain mass media.

During Vice-President Iglesias’ rallies for the last general elections, IBEX35 leaders, who Iglesias despises for what they earn, were the objective of his trivial messages, who he now uses as applauders during the last “Spain Can” conference of Sánchez, held at “Casa de América”, to make the opposition believe that its ideas were supported by IBEX35. Sánchez’s speech was filled with vague concepts, common places (digitisation, climate change, feminism) and contradictions, and referred to territorial equality while offering Catalans and Basques the dream of splitting the country. This action seeks to weaken and further soften Casado by arguing: see, even IBEX35 leaders, economic power, join my cause, unlike you.

Why do IBEX35 leaders allow themselves to be used by government propaganda?
It is not because they are ignorant, nor because investors approve it. Instead they exercise “Pharisees” by seeking contracts and subsidies, taking a good slice of the European funds that reach the more enthusiastic thanks to the propaganda-related favours that they do for the president. Bear in mind that ministers are mostly politicians, not technicians. They were selected to destroy the regime of 1978, and are quite incapable of implementing suitable requests themselves for the EU to transfer aid. Large banks and the Telefónica firm are experts in digitisation, and will do the government’s work by making it pay for rendered services. The same applies to firms Iberdrola, Endesa, but in ecological terms. However, SMEs and the empty (rural) Spain, which really need digitisation, never appear in such events. Will aid reach them or will large firms obtain the vast majority of aid? We will see, but fear the worse because, although large firms’ teams are qualified, ministers seek short cuts to later benefit from high-paid jobs in these firms.

Companies return the favours they expect to receive. These are the political and business leaders we have. Nevertheless, citizens pay electricity, gas, bank services, the Internet and phone bills which, compared to Spanish salaries, are some of the most expensive in Europe. Because of these costs, high energy-consuming firms leave Spain and many citizens’ lives are precarious and save by not using expensive services.
This government seeks to pass budgets, but not the good of the country. Business leaders submit to the government’s interest and do business. Perhaps Sánchez is right when he says that the blame for green shoots (new hopeful economy) is because citizens have relaxed; but voting this government was relaxed. If as with traffic campaigns the impacting COVID-19 effects, or the real images at hospitals and coffins, were shown instead of hiding half the victims, fewer people might relax after a 100-day state of alarm. Closing business is a brutal way to solve problems because it destroys the economy, especially after feminist propaganda on 8 March 2020 spread the COVID-19 pandemic.
