The PP will never have an absolute majority, because we have verified that it wastes it
Casado has come back to play the zebra swallowed by the PSOE crocodile when drinking from the censure motion river. Rajoy’s “master” model, that of leaving a leftwing government to make the economy deteriorate enough for voters to abandon him, and then gathering in votes, does not serve Casado because the government has only been ruling for a short time, it has COVID-19 as an excuse and this anti-patriotic PSOE allies with any party. Besides, there are other vigorous and brave hands to obtain votes: VOX. Only by joining with VOX will PP beat this leftwing government. Those counsellors who convinced Casado that the motion would go against him were clumsy and traitors, and have thrown him off the cliff. If they are clumsy, they betray Spaniards. Casado has fallen into the trap thanks to an intervention that will politically bury him.
Casado is disguised as a centrist to attempt to eliminate VOX by magnifying and caricaturing artificial differences, and claiming for himself an absurd right to others’ submission without foundation. Confusing one’s opponent ensures defeat because it disconcerts his voters once more by him abstaining with his vote, and opposing the government’s totalitarian longings with his discourse. It is as though he likes listening to himself with brilliant suicidal discourses, and as if he lacked courage and values. It is no time for being half-hearted with the opponent and cruel with the necessary co- operator. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Although he does not actually say so, Casado accepts the loser’s role and longs for a two-party system. To this end, he needs to eliminate VOX as if 4 million voters depended on him. He does not do this, but hides because the consequences of a PSOE/ PP two-party system are shameful: vast territorial distances, separatism, corruption, economic unsustainability, destroyed education, citizens’ confrontation, etc. It is also shameful because PP has always granted PSOE education, and, ever since Zapatero governed, the cultural battle. Rajoy’s “master” role has granted cultural, educational and media hegemony and the streets to PSOE. It is the time for the brave, and not confronting totalitarians is giving in. Conformity is useless.
Casado’s performance disconcerts his voters and many switch to VOX. Essentially, he defends his job and his applauders. He thinks in the short term and only in his party, which he conceives as an employment agency. This is why he tells Abascal that they would have given him work for 15 years. Or does centrism demand whoever it contracts being a slave? Attacking Abascal leaves PP in a void. Since Zapatero, “the centre” has substantially shrunk. Casado also accuses VOX of being extreme, the government and its media with the same lie. Defending values and not giving in to the cultural battle, criticising things that do not work in the EU is not being anti-European or extremist. The opposite of being submissive is being critical, no extremist.
After the next general elections, PP and VOX will be equal and “Casado’s political head will roll in its HQ at Génova 13”, not only for it electoral disaster, but also for breaking bridges with Abascal. Casado’s verbal abuse will not enable him to occupy his post. If there were not enough reasons to replace him, Casado deceives PP members because the way he acts in the censure motion would be that which his defeated rival, Soraya, would defend during the PP primary elections. He deceives those who voted him during primary elections, his voters and himself.
Casado’s strategically failing proof of the pudding is Iglesias and Lastra’s comical praise. Opponents’ flattery is a bad omen. Casado’s mistake is so enormous that he forgets that the totalitarianism that the government pursues is incompatible with a democratic two-party system. Very soon, when the government needs to do so, he will once again be called fascist and PP will be accused of all evils: cuts, privatisations, corruption, allying with the extreme rightwing, not helping him in Europe. Rome does not pay traitors.
